This is the most convenient and versatile baby food mix ever. I don’t know what I would have done without this. You can start it right from 6 months and use it until the age of 2 years or more. And the ingredients in it can grow with your baby. And the best part, this food mix is such a versatile base for adding any new ingredient that you don’t need to cook separately for your baby every single time.

Baby food guide-
Stage 1 – Use only rice as you start solids from 4-6 months
Stage 2 – Start adding one daal. Start with the less gassy variety like moong daal or urad daal first.
Stage 3 – You can gradually start adding a mix two / three or more daals with every batch you make.

- Mix together the rice and daals in a bowl, wash thoroughly with water 2-3 times until the water runs clear. Leave it to soak in the water for up to 3 hours.
- Strain out and drain all the water. Spread the grains on a sheet of cloth or a wide tray and let it air dry under a fan for a minimum of 3 hours. Make sure to give it a stir in between so it can dry evenly. To make sure it has dried well, your best bet is to leave it overnight.
- Once completely dry, heat a pan and dry fry all the grains carefully. Make sure not to burn. The aim is to roast the grains well so that we can grind and store it.
How to use?
Basic:
Mix 2 tbsp of this power with about a cup of water. stir and bring to a boil. Make sure there are no lumps. Reduce the heat and cook on low for 4-5 minutes until the desired consistency.
To add any ingredients:
Mix 2 tbsp or more with about one and half cup of water. Stir and bring to a boil. Add in a few pieces of cooked meat / vegetables from your meal. (if you think its too spicy / salty, give it a quick rinse with clean water before adding) Cook for 4-5 minutes until thick. Blend completely or leave it chunky based on the age and preference of your baby.
Tempered:
Don’t have any cooked meat / veggies on hand? No worries. You can prepare a quick flavorful bowl of nutritious baby food by giving it a light tempering with just 3 ingredients. Heat butter / ghee, add 1/4 teaspoon of ginger – garlic paste, 3-4 curry leaves. Be careful with the spluttering. Immediately add a cup of water, add a pinch of salt (only for babies older than an year) and about 2 tbsp of the powered mix. Cook for 4-5 minutes and serve
